‘The Hobbit: The Battle Of Five Armies’ Gets Online Petition To Hold Off Thorin’s Death; Luke Evans Supports Title Change Of Peter Jackson’s Third Installment?

"The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies" has triggered an online petition to hold off on Thorin Oakenshield's death as Luke Evans expressed his support to the title change of Peter Jackson's third and final installment.

The online petition was uploaded on iPetitions, a user-generated portal for soliciting advocacy support. An excerpt of the online petition for "The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies" read:

"Despite the many fans' love to the familiar main characters such as Bilbo and Gandalf, not less we liked Thorin Oakenshield. For many of us, he means more than might be imagined: for each of us, his fans, he represents something different, attractive in his own way, and this is not just a hysterical fan love."

"We deeply regret that Professor Tolkien killed Thorin in the book, but do not absolutely want and are not going to challenge the correctness of this action. Instead, we decided to turn to you with a request not to kill him at least in the movie."

"The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies" petition-which already gathered 342 signatures from a goal of 5,000-said the death of Thorin Oakenshield "will cause many fans great pain, more than many of us would like to go through. Please do not kill Thorin!"

According toYahoo Movies, another separate petition for the upcoming Peter Jackson trilogy was also uploaded on the same portal and called "Don't let Thorin, Fili, and Kili die in the Hobbit!!!" So far, it has gathered 73 signatures out of the 1 million goal.

Meanwhile, "The Hobbit 3" cast member Luke Evans (Bard the Bowman) told Digital Spy that he fully supports the title change from "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" to "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies"

"We have the Battle of the Five Armies which we focus on, it's a very important part of the story," he said. "I think it's right, I think it's appropriate that it's changed and I think Peter would've thought about it with a lot of care."

"The Hobbit 3" cast member Luke Evans said fans would understand the reason for the title change of "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" once they see the film.
