"Prometheus 2" release date is not in the horizon yet as director Ridley Scott's still has some film commitments to finish. Nevertheless, the original film's main cast, Michael Fassbender, said that he's excited to work with the filmmaker again.

During the junket for "X-Men: Days of Future Past," "Prometheus" cast Michael Fassbender confirmed the sequel for the 2012 thriller. As to the question of when they will begin production, he simply doesn't know.

When asked by Collider  about the prospect of working with "Prometheus 2" director Ridley Scott and he beamed, "For sure. I love Ridley, he's a master filmmaker."

Because of "Prometheus 2" director Ridley Scott's film commitments, the earlier the sequel will open to theaters is in 2016, MailOnline said. Ridley Scott is finishing up on "Exodus: Gods and Kings," which is set to be released late this year.

Multiple news sources placed the "Prometheus" release date on March 4, 2016.

"Prometheus 2" cast Michael Fassbender was earlier reported to have left "Genius," a biopic of Max Perkins, although no reason was given.

The "Prometheus 2" release date might not be the only thing changed. Even the title might get some alterations as the film is being branded now as the "Untitled Ridley Scott Project," according to TheWrap. Film shooting is reportedly going to begin this fall right after the director would have delivered the "Exodus" movie to 20th Century Fox.

The sequel is expected to feature multiple "David" androids, which means there will be more than one of "Prometheus 2" cast Michael Fassbender.

Earlier, James Cameron-who directed "Aliens"- panned the original movie "Prometheus" and is distancing himself for "Prometheus 2" should the writing job be offered to him by the studio.

"I thought it was an interesting film. I thought it was thought provoking and beautifully, visually mounted, but at the end of the day it didn't add up logically," he said, according to moviepilot.
