'Game Of Thrones' Creator George R. R. Martin Explains Why He Writes On An Ancient Computer [VIDEO]

“Game of Thrones” creator George R.R. Martin has provided an explanation why he’s writing his stories including “Winds of Winter” on an archaic computer.

Guesting at Conan O’Brien’s show “Conan,” George R.R. Martin revealed that he’s not too worried about his materials, such as his upcoming book “Winds of Winter” or the screenplay for “Game of Thrones,” being corrupted by virus because he has a “secret weapon.”

The "Game of Thrones" creator George R.R. Martin narrated: "I actually have two computers. I have a computer I browse the Internet with and I get my email on, and I do my taxes on. And then I have my writing computer, which is a DOS machine, not connected to the Internet. I use WordStar 4.0 as my word processing system."

He said the Wordstar 4.0 might appear ancient but “it does everything I want a word processing program to do.”

But there’s a method to his madness as "Game of Thrones" creator George R.R. Martin said that the spell check can be a bit of a hassle when you are writing about an imaginary realm with made-up language.

"I hate some of these modern systems where you type a lower case letter and it becomes a capital letter,” he said. “I don't want a capital. If I wanted a capital, I would have typed a capital. I know how to work the shift key.”

Meanwhile, George R.R. Martin is already thinking about “Game of Thrones” spinoff that will surprise even the most cynical of viewers.

Taking note of the popularity of King Tommen Baratheon’s cat, he pitched in an idea for Conan, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"We may do a spinoff of Ser Pounce the cat. The Internet went crazy when Ser Pounce appeared.”

“Game of Thrones” creator George R.R. Martin, however, is mum on what most fans would have loved to know: just when will “Winds of Winter,” the latest installment in the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series, be released?
