Stan Van Gundy Headed To The Detroit Pistons? A Look Back At The Legendary NBA Coach's Career Moments

Stan Van Gundy has signed a deal with the Detroit Pistons to coach the team and head the Basketball operations after Maurice Cheeks got fired in the middle of the season and Joe Dumars leaving the basketball franchise with nobody to take control.

Reportedly, the Pistons wanted a prominent name in the league to take over what the former motor city players left in the office.

Stan Van Gundy signed a 5-year $35-million contract deal with the team as reported by ESPN.

With the coaching jobs for Detroit and Golden State Warriors being vacant after left and right firing of coaches, SVG reportedly would rather go with the Warriors but the team has failed to complete negotiations with the coach.

Steve Kerr is now heading to GS to coach the California team while Van Gundy would head to Detroit.

"Stan is a proven winner in our league. He instills his teams with passion, purpose and toughness," Pistons owner Tom Gores said in a statement. "He is a great teacher who will help our players grow and develop.
"Stan is more than just a great coach, he's a great leader. What I'm most excited about is how Stan can help us shape the franchise and instill what it means to be the best. He's also a great communicator. My time with Stan has me convinced that he will bring our players, team and community to a very proud place."

In lieu of the former Orlando Magic coach heading to Detroit, we take a look back at the legendary Stan Van Gundy, a future hall-of-famer’s best moments with the NBA:
