‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron' Plot Spoilers: Hawkeye To Die In The Movie? Joss Whedon Teases Death Of Major Character! The Archer Is Likely Candidate

In every movie series, the stakes should get higher with every film. We've already had the death of a major character in "The Amazing Spider Man 2" and the upcoming "Avengers: Age of Ultron" is likely to follow suit.

No less than Joss Whedon understands that even with a great cast and cool characters, there still has to be a sense of urgency for the viewers. It can get boring and predictable if everybody always saves the day. Also, the Avengers movie has been criticized for being too light-since the death of Phil Coulson has been trivialized with his 'resurrection' in "Agents of SHIELD."

In a press junket, Whedon was quoted by Screen Rant: "When I actually considered doing Avengers 2, my first question was what can I do that's new? Because I can't make it bigger [audience laughs], but I can make it better, so that's where I'm sort of going with that."

And how is that exactly?

"Death, death and death."

There will be new characters in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and there are also new implications that were brought about by the other films shown in between specifically "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Iron Man 3."

What Culture named the Avenger most likely to die and it turns out that it's Hawkeye:

"Jeremy Renner has publicly expressed discontent at his treatment and it's unlikely that his relationship with Marvel Studios is as strong as some of the other actors in the movie, so he could be seen as dispensable. There's also the fact that Hawkeye is one of the out-gunned human characters who could so easily be taken out by a super-powered robot like Ultron in a single shot, making his death more realistic than characters who are as ridiculously durable as guys like Thor and Hulk."

Of course, they did consider outside factors like contracts (they should keep that a secret), of which Renner did not have a publicized extension. Also, Hawkeye the character has been the subject of numerous memes and portrayed as the weakest link in the Avengers. For one thing, he was the only one who was subjected to Loki's mind control when Nick Fury and the Black Widow were not.

Renner is already a lead star and is able to carry his own movie-it's tough for him to be the fourth or fifth wheel in a film. Marvel does not seem to have too many plans for Hawkeye the character, not even for its Netflix TV series. This seems to be the only logical option.

"Avengers: Age of Ultron" opens on May 1, 2015.
