The Kevin Love saga has officially begun. The NBA Trade Rumors surrounding him will finally have more teeth because Minnesota has finally opened up on listening to trade proposals.

ESPN has reported that Kevin Love's representatives have made it clear that he will definitely pick up his player option at the end of the 2014-2015 season. The full report:

"Kevin Love has made it clear to the Timberwolves that he intends to become an unrestricted free agent after next season and has no interest in a contract extension to stay in Minnesota, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.

Although sources say Love has stopped short of demanding a trade, his position could effectively force the Timberwolves to deal the All-Star forward before next season -- or before the trade deadline in February 2015 at the latest -- if they hope to dodge the risk of losing him without compensation."

Now, this stern warning was met with a quick reaction:

From Yahoo Sports, their insiders have caught this vibe: "For the first time, [Saunders] sounds like looking at deals for [Love] as an actual option." For the last months, even as the rumors kept circulating, the T-Wolves management has maintained their hardline stance. That has changed now.

Sky's the limit for the rumor mill now, and Yahoo has presented: "The Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns are among many teams determined to make hard runs at trades for Love, league sources said. Boston and Los Angeles plan to make high-lottery picks in the 2014 NBA Draft available in offers for Love, sources said."

Any Kevin Love deal has a warning tag that he can leave after his first season: "No team is likely to trade for Love without an assurance that he'll commit to a five-year, $100 million maximum contract extension. Despite a belief that Love prefers Los Angeles or New York as a potential destination, he's open to deals in other markets where he can be part of an immediate contender, sources said."

This reality may narrow down the field to where Love actually wants to play and not just what Minnesota stands to get for him. Unless, of course, a team is willing to gamble.
