‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 6 Spoilers: ‘Reset’ Will Change Environment For Season 6, Paul Wesley Teases

"Vampire Diaries" season 6 will bring a "reset" to the beloved CW series, Paul Wesley teased. Read on for more spoilers about "Vampire Diaries" season 6!

Delena fans everywhere shed tears when it was revealed in the season 5 finale that Damon wasn't going to come back from the Other Side.

"[The finale] definitely establishes new parameters in the environment we'll be shooting in Season 6," Paul Wesley, who plays Stefan Salvatore on "The Vampire Diaries," told TV Guide. "They reset things in a way, and the writers have the ability to now change the circumstances and locations of where the show takes place."

We can't confirm that this means "Vampire Diaries" season 6 will take place somewhere outside of Mystic Falls, but it sounds like the CW series will undergo some major changes when it premieres this fall.

One thing's for sure: Elena and Stefan will lean on each other in light of Damon's absence.

"If you look back to Season 1, it's been very hectic for her and it's nice [for her and Stefan] to be in a settled place," Nina Dobrev, who plays Elena, said. "But it's the CW; we're not going to stay there for very long. She's not going to be happy for more than 15 minutes in the first episode of Season 6."

"In high-stakes situations where anything can happen... it really makes you think about your life and what's most important and who's most important," Dobrev added to TVGuide.com at the CW Upfront event.

Meanwhile, Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon, may have hinted at spoilers that he won't return for "Vampire Diaries" season 6.

He took to Instagram to say: "The Vampire Diaries Season 5 wraps in 24 hours. Thank you for 5 amazing seasons!! Sitting with @Julieplec- she thanks and loves you all..."

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 is expected to premiere in either September or October.
