Juan Gabriel Death Rumor Update: Son Arrested For Drunk Driving During Father’s Pneumonia Recovery, Will He Go To Jail?

Juan Gabriel may be one of the latest celebrities to fall victim to death rumors, but now his son is grabbing the media spotlight after he was arrested for drunk driving in Florida. Will Juan Gabriel's son go to jail while he recovers from pneumonia?

The son of Mexican singer Juan Gabriel, Joan Gabriel Aguilera, was arrested by authorities in Florida after causing a serious accident while driving under the influence of alcohol in December, 2013. Juan Gabriel's 25-year-old son was driving above the speed limit under the influence of alcohol when he crashed his car into a woman's car. His court date in Florida is in June 2014, where it will be determined whether he's absolved or if he goes to prison, according to Mexican magazine TV Notas and reported by Latinos Post.

According to TV Notas, Joan's alcohol problems are not new and he regularly drives while drunk. Juan Gabriel's son was found by police officers sitting on the street and crying, asking for forgiveness for causing the accident.

Meanwhile, Juan Gabriel's pneumonia recovery is going very well and he is scheduled to resume his tour 2014 in the USA in September.

According to the Latin Times, TV reporter Joaquín López-Doriga took to Twitter to assure fans that the Juan Gabriel death reports were just rumors.

"I've been informed that news of Juan Gabriel's death is false. His recovery is going so well that he will be released from the hospital in Las Vegas tomorrow."

The "Abrázame Muy Fuerte" singer is reportedly focusing on recovering fully and is set to resume his USA tour in September 2014.

"He's recovering, it wasn't just enchiladas, it was serious and he's still in the hospital. Honestly, doctors are afraid that if he doesn't leave, he won't follow instructions and we know him, we know his theories on natural medicine. If doctors are keeping him there is because it has to be that way and his children agree, all of the family, so we're expecting him to leave soon, once he's done with treatment, as it should be," said his manager, quoted by local media.

"His health improved considerably since he began treatment," he added.

Fox News Latino reports that the 64-year-old Mexican crooner Juan Gabriel first worried fans when he was hospitalized on April 14 with symptoms of pneumonia after completing a three-hour concert in Las Vegas.

Four days later, just hours after his release, he was rushed back to Southern Hills hospital with a "heart condition," according to Televisa and other Mexican media. Death rumors began last week when Juan Gabriel was hospitalized a third time reportedly with high blood pressure complications.

Upon his latest release from the hospital, his publicist said "[Juan Gabriel's] family is grateful for concern and interest expressed by the thousands of Juan Gabriel's fans and would like to inform that there is nothing to worry about."

"Everything is fine," Gabriel wrote on Twitter, according to the Latin Times. "There is nothing to worry about, we only need to take care of ourselves. Thanks to all the kind messages and good wishes."
