‘Interstellar Movie’ Trailer [VIDEO] Depicts Earth’s Utter Destruction And A Long Shot Evacuation Plan! Christopher Nolan Space Epic Stars Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway!

"Interstellar" is the latest movie of director Christopher Nolan and his first movie after the Batman trilogy. This film is about the terrifying destruction of Earth and man's desperate attempt to survive beyond it.

There are mainly two parts to Interstellar. The first one depicts Earth's destruction through the eyes of a Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) and his two children. Cooper was being recruited to a mission based on his qualifications as a trained pilot (and being an 'educated man').

Earth's peril was depicted in the scenes that follow. Den Of Geek describes them: "What really struck us, though, is the way Interstellar's dark future is presented. Its imagery is clearly informed by the real-world ecological catastrophe which swept America's southern states in the 1930s. The Great Plains were swept by a terrible drought, which in turn led to crop failures, dust storms and the displacement of some 500,000 people."

The Space travel part is introduced by Nolan muse Michael Caine
"We're not meant to save the world. We're meant to leave it."

Shots of space interspersed with further devastation follow. The other astronaut is Anne Hathaway, and there is a scene which suggests that the characters will go into hypersleep.

Jessica Chastain and Casey Affleck are on Earth, and it is surmised that they are the Cooper's kids, which means that the movie will address the time factor (not just the distance) associated with interstellar travel.

Screen Rant gives the verdict on the trailer: "Ultimately, this trailer is the same mixed bag that comes with every second trailer for a Nolan movie: we got a little bit more than the nothing we knew before, but this is still only a set up, a premise, with much of the more extensive explanations and story arcs left until the release of trailer #3. In this case, Interstellar trailer #2 plays much like 1997 film Contact (which also starred McConaughey, ironically enough), in that it looks to be an Earth-bound dramatic dilemma that culminates in a fantastical space journey. The question is: what's the ratio between Earth drama and space travel; how much actual interstellar travel will we see?"

"Interstellar" opens on Nov. 7, 2014.
