'Winds Of Winter' Release Date Not Yet Revealed But George R. R. Martin’s Other Book ‘The World Of Ice & Fire’ Out In Fall; Author Gets Carried Away Again?

"The Winds of Winter" release date is not known yet but George R. R. Martin wrote on his blog that his other book, "The World Of Ice & Fire," will definitely be out in bookstores by fall. Did the author get carried away again and wrote more words than specified in the contract?

Through his official blog, author George R.R. Martin published the cover of the coffee table book "The World Of Ice and Fire" after publishing house Bantam change it several times.

"You've seen a couple of the earlier mockups here and on my website. Now here's the latest and... I am told... final cover," he wrote, adding that the book will be out in bookshelves on October 28, 2014.

While the author is still mum about the "Winds of Winter" release date, he did talk more about "The World of Ice & Fire."

"It is going to be a gorgeous book, a big coffee table volume with lots and lots of stunning artwork, and tons of fake history," he said.

In true George R. R. Martin fashion, the contract for the book was 50,000 words and by the time he finished the final draft, it was well over that limit.

"We were supposed to provide 50,000 words of text, but... ah... I got carried away."

Fans and critics have taken note of the tendency of the author to ramble on with his writing, which explains why the "Winds of Winter" release date has not yet been announced despite the "Game of Thrones" threatening to catch up with it.

According to The Epoch Times, the book was co-written by Elio M García, Jr. and Linda Antonsson, founders of Westeros.org.

Elio Garcia confirmed that George R. R. Martin did get carried away because the book, which has around 330 pages, had more text than the 50,000-word contract.

He also promised in his blog post that the book will contain "lots of new information, about the ancient history of the world, about the various regions, about the Targaryens and the Lannisters, and even about the strange, far-off places of Essos, from the Free Cities to Asshai and the Summer Isles."
