Windows Phone 9 Release Date: Upcoming Version Of Microsoft's Mobile OS Includes Office 2013, System Protection, Cortana, To Be Launched Q2-Q3 2015

Windows Phone 9 release date: It has only been a few months since Microsoft announced the Windows Phone 8.1 packed with new cool features, functions and customization options. But it looks like the Redmond giant is not stopping it reaches the WP platform's fullest potential.

According to a report by GSM Arena, a leaked document shows us what appears to be a plan for the Windows Phone 9, which would be previewed by the second or third quarter of 2015.

Indeed, it may sound too fast for Microsoft to upgrade its mobile platform, but if that means more stability, more OS switchers and better overall functionality, then it would do whatever it takes to inch closer to the dichotomy which is Android and iOS.

According to the leaked image, there would some updates to the Windows Phone 9 experience. Some of the notable changes include the Metro UI, System protection or an equivalent of Windows Defender for WP powered smartphones, Windows Activation, OneDrive and the virtual voice assistant Cortana.

As for Windows Activation, this could mean that upcoming Windows Phone devices should be registered in order to be used. In the same way, some rumors surrounding the Windows 9 release point to such activations in order to 'unify' all Windows devices.

Indeed, Windows Phone 9 is a promising update from Microsoft. However, the Redmond giant should also consider expanding its marketing strategy in order to promote Windows Phone 8.1 more to smartphone users, especially those who have grown up using Android or iOS.

Microsoft may be working double time and triple time in giving timely updates, but it should still focus on the current versions at hand. That is because is it highly possible, that people who would not be interested in today's version of Windows Phone 8.1 would not get excited by any changes in Windows Phone 9 either.
