‘Prometheus 2’ Director Ridley Scott Gets Hands Busy In Australia For ‘The Martian;’ Cast Noomi Rapace Stars With Will Smith In Sci-Fi Film ‘Brilliance’
"Prometheus 2" director Ridley Scott is currently in Australia to film "The Martian" starring Matt Damon. While another cast of the film Noomi Rapace, will star opposite Will Smith in a sci-fi movie about superhuman abilities.
According to Sydney Confidential, "Prometheus 2" director Ridley Scott touched down in Sydney Wednesday. Although he arrived without fanfare, the local press are quick to notice his driver holding up a "Ridley Scott" sign at the airport.
The publication said that the director is scouting for locations for his next movie "The Martian" and he will be assisted by Screen NSW. The film tells the story of an astronaut (possibly Matt Damon) who is stranded in a Martian colony.
NASA will then mount a mission in order to rescue him before time runs out. The mood is similar to "Cast Away" and "Apollo 13."
Meanwhile, "Prometheus 2" cast Noomi Rapace will star opposite Will Smith in the film "Brilliance."
The film is based on the novel by Marcus Sakey which tells of a world inhabited by a small number of people with superpower capabilities. In this world, they are called "brilliants." Will Smith will play one of these superhumans, according to Deadline.
Will Smith is no stranger to superheroes as he played the troubled superhero in the 2008 film "Hancock."
"Brilliance" will be produced by Legendary Entertainment and helmed by Julius Onah. "Prometheus 2" star Noomi Rapace's role is still unknown, the website said.
During the junket for "X-Men: Days of Future Past," "Prometheus" cast Michael Fassbender confirmed the sequel for the 2012 thriller. As to the question of when they will begin production, he simply doesn't know.
When asked by Collider about the prospect of working with "Prometheus 2" director Ridley Scott and he beamed, "For sure. I love Ridley, he's a master filmmaker."
Because of "Prometheus 2" director Ridley Scott's film commitments, the earlier the sequel will open to theaters is in 2016, MailOnline said. Ridley Scott is finishing up on "Exodus: Gods and Kings," which is set to be released late this year.
