‘Under The Dome’ Season 2 Spoilers: ‘Science And Faith’ Will Bring Tension Between New Character And Julia, Big Jim Caught In Middle After Air Date

"Under the Dome" season 2 air date is almost a month away, and new spoilers reveal that "science and faith" will bring tension between a new character and Julia in "Under the Dome" season 2.

"We have this real tension between science and faith this year," executive producer Neal Baer said during a CBS summer preview event, TV Guide reports.

According to spoilers, the new character Rebecca in "Under the Dome" season 2 will be portrayed by an addition to the cast: Karla Crome. Crome will play a science teacher who attempts to find more tangible answers to the mysterious dome. Her views will bring tension to Rachelle Lefevre's character Julia, who has taken a faith-approach to the dome and views it as punishment.

"And Big Jim [Dean Norris] is caught in the middle," Baer added.

Baer also revealed that "Under the Dome" may survive long past season 2 and even said that it could run for 15 seasons.

"We're way past [Stephen King's] book," Baer said. "The book is about the first week and we're already two weeks in. This season will be going two more weeks. If we lasted 15 years, that would only be a year under the dome. It's certainly possible to keep going. We have so many stories to tell."

Meanwhile, Stephen King will write the first episode of "Under the Dome" season 2.

"Stephen King is sending us off into a place we're proud of and we really love and [these are some of] his ideas to go beyond the book," Baer stressed.

The recently-released promo trailer also teases the two deaths in the season premiere and new characters including Junior's uncle and a young school teacher, Zap2it.com reports.

As we previously reported, "Under the Dome" season 2's cast introduced newcomer Grace Victoria Cox, who will play Melanie, Joe's new love interest. The CBS series also recently added "CSI: NY" star Eddie Cahill and "Misfits" alum Karla Crome as new series regulars, most likely in preparation for the two "favorites" that are soon to be killed off in season 2.

"Under the Dome" season 2 airs Monday, June 30 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
