With the release of Maxim Hot 100 list last May 23, fans were stunned that the top notch has been nabbed by Candeice Swanepoel. After all, the Victoria's Secret model only ranked 64 in the Maxim Hot 100 List 2013.

The blonde beauty immediately shared the news on Twitter:

In a statement via Maxim, the 25-year-old expressed her feeling for the win: "It's a huge honor to be Maxim's number one, among so many beautiful and talented women! It's a great feeling."

Swanepoel defeated Miley Cyrus who was ranked first in last year's Maxim Hot 100. Following Swanepoel in the Top 10 are Scarlett Johansson, Katy Perry, Irina Shayk, Jennifer Lawrence, Zooey Deschanel, Alessandra Ambrosio, Jessica Alba, Mila Kunis and Cara Delevingne.

Creative director Paul Martinez explained Swanepoel's win: Candice Swanepoel is the ideal embodiment of the new Maxim brand: stunning, sophisticated, elegant."

"It's not only her flawless beauty and effortless grace that have garnered her the coveted 2014 Hot 100 Number 1 placement, but also her business acumen. The South African model has earned respective spots in the 2012 and 2013 Forbes' top-earning models list. In 2013, she wore the most expensive piece in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show: the Fantasy bra worth 10 million dollars.

Previously, the model, who likewise walked the runway for the Kardashian swimwear line, said that models shouldn't be deemed as airheads.For Swanepoel, it takes more than beauty to be a model.

"There are so many beautiful girls around that you need more than that. It's really about being smart now and turning it into a business," she said.
