"The Flash" TV series has gotten some love from comic book writer Mark Waid who applauded the show's visual effects based on the five-minute extended trailer released by CW network.

But Mark Waid, who had an eight-year run as the lead writer for "The Flash" comics, is not so keen on the background story where Barry Allen's (Grant Custin) mother was killed by a man inside a lightning while he was just a boy.

"I don't understand why everyone has to have Batman's origin. But, that said, I really like the visuals of it. I like the look of it. I like that he seems to be having fun as a superhero," he told comicbook.com. 

"Because, again, if your superpower is that you can run really fast and make time stop, it would be a blast. I don't want to hear your problems. How you can have that problem and still be upset?"

He also admitted getting the chills when the main character in "The Flash" TV series says:

"My name is Barry Allen, I'm the fastest man alive."

Later on, however, Mark Waid took to Twitter on May 23 to clarify his statements in the interview about the mother being killed in the "The Flash" TV series trailer .

"Not only is the #Flash pilot EXCELLENT, but (for this) the dead-mom retcon doesn't grate. Great show, and Tom Cavanagh is astounding."

"The Flash" TV series tells the story of Barry Allen, who works as with the police department and gains powers after an unexpected accident. The series is expected to air on CW in the fall.

Earlier, "The Flash" cast Grant Custin hinted of a possible "Arrow" crossover in an interview with TV Fanatic.

"I've been told there will be crossovers from both shows. They're setting it up to definitely play with it," he said.

As to whether the show will move forward, he said: "I feel confident about the show going far even before I got the part, just as a fan because everybody wants to see this because it's long overdue."
