CBS' "Extant" will focus on Halle Berry's character, Molly Woods, trying to hide a secret: after spending 13 months on a solo space mission, she returns to Earth and finds out that she's pregnant. The TV show will likely follow the arc of hiding the pregnancy from her husband and robot child.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Steven Spielberg, along with Greg Walker and Mickey Fisher, who penned the script for the CBS Television Studios and Amblin Television effort, will executive produce with Brooklyn Weaver, Justin Falvey, and Darryl Frank. Berry will co-executive produce.

The 13-episode mini-series will follow a model like its CBS summer companion "Under the Dome"; if the TV show is successful, it will continue on with a second season with Berry returning as its lead, producers said, according to Hollywood Reporter.

"We love the idea of season two being the sequel to this," Walker said. "The threat we establish in season one ... will continue in season two."

After the success of the first season of "Under the Dome," which was originally billed as a limited-event series, it was renewed for a full-length season 2, premiering Monday, June 30.

"This is the way television should be ... ['Under the Dome' has] been a great new model," CBS Corp CEO Leslie Moonves said of "Under the Dome" and its success, Deadline reports.

CBS is likely hoping for similar good fortune with Halle Berry's "Extant."

The series premiere is Wednesday, July 9.
