Sarah Paulson Compares American Horror Story 'Freak Show' To 'Coven' And 'Asylum,' Praises Kathy Bates And Engaged Emma Roberts

As "American Horror Story: Freak Show" prepares to begin filming, season 4 cast member Sarah Paulson has nothing but praise upon reading the script for the premiere.

Her reaction: "Holy s-t!"

"I feel like that's the appropriate reaction you want when you read the first script of 'American Horror Story,'" said the actress to E! Online. "So it's very exciting and totally nerve-wracking in the best way because you think, 'How the hell am I going to pull this off?!' And as an actor, I think that's an exciting thing to feel."

Although no spoilers were to be found, Paulson did hint that the tone of "American Horror Story: Freak Show" would be a hybrid of "Coven" and "Asylum."

"There's going to be a little bit of a richer and potentially darker tone the way Asylum had, but with the humor infused from Coven," continued Paulson. "When you add Kathy Bates to the story, she's so funny, and Emma Roberts was so funny last year as Madison, I just think it's going to be a really beautiful mix of both."

"His interests tend to go towards the female and the intricacies of the female heart and mind and I love him so much for that because, boy, he has thrown the ball at me in a really beautiful way. I worship at the altar of Ryan Murphy and I always will."

Joining Sarah Paulson will be Jamie Brewer, Frances Controy, Angela Bassett, Jessica Lange, Michael Chiklis, Evan Peters, Gabourey Sidibe, and Denis O'Hare.

Amongst them, it has been confirmed that the Clown Killer and Bearded Lady will be characters on "American Horror Story: Freak Show."
