The Blue Jays, who still rank near the top of the AL in most offensive categories, were in danger of being shut out for the fourth time in five games Wednesday before scoring twice in the eighth inning of a 7-2 loss to Minnesota. It marked their second straight loss.

"I think we've cooled off pretty good, pretty much top to bottom in the lineup ... but that's the way it goes," manager John Gibbons said. "The key is you can't prolong the struggles. You've got to put an end to them. The bats will heat up again, hopefully sooner than later."

"We go out there and win a few games, try to win a series, that's how we have to go from here on out," said Buehrle. "Not really a scoreboard watcher or look at what other teams are doing, just go out there and try to take care of ourself. Hopefully we're at first place at the end of the year, but we have a long way to go."

Baltimore is coming off a series against the Red Sox where it only allowed one run in three games, going 1-2 in the series. Kevin Gausman will make his second straight start for Baltimore in place of injured pitcher Miguel Gonzalez.

The 23-year-old right-hander impressed as he picked up his first career win as a starter Saturday, overpowering the A's with six strikeouts in seven innings of one-run ball, according to MLB.com.

The deep offensive attack of Toronto could get to the youngster in what could be his final start in the rotation with Gonzalez set to come back.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jays will send out Mark Buehlre (10-2, 2.04 ERA). He is still having his best season yet in MLB.
