2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions: Chris Bosh Says Big Four With Carmelo 'Very, Very Unlikely!' Is He Against The Idea?

The 2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions take a surprising turn. The Miami Heat team wants to get Carmelo Anthony-pre-empting a possible connivance with another team.

The origin of that ESPN's report said "the team's leading players have already started to explore their options for creating sufficient financial flexibility to make an ambitious run at Carmelo."

But that report was disputed by Chris Bosh. Speaking to the Miami Herald, Bosh was dismissive.

"'I think that's very, very unlikely,' Bosh said when asked about the possibility of a Big Four."

It is in the realm of possibility, and he did not say that it won't happen. But very, very unlikely.

From Sporting News: "All four players would need to take a sizeable pay cut to make the Big Four scenario work, and Bosh, James and Wade are already playing in Miami at a discounted rate. Anthony can make $23.5 million by opting into the final year of his deal and faces the opportunity for even more lucrative offers as a free agent. Still, because they hold his Bird Rights, the Knicks can offer Anthony more than any other team."

Of course, for you to leave millions on the table, you have to really want to play with the Carmelo.

The assessment continues: "Players such as Udonis Haslem would also have to take on smaller contracts in order for the Miami Big Four to become a reality. But Haslem told the Miami Herald that the plan isn't all that tough to conceive."

Haslem says: "It doesn't seem unrealistic. There was a time nobody would have thought you could put this team together, with those guys taking pay cuts, and even myself taking a paycut. You can never say never."

For Chris Bosh, who can have a max contract offer from teams like the Dallas Mavericks or LA Lakers, accepting a further pay cut may be too much. As ESPN points out, he will also have the most to lose even with playing time:

Which of the Big Three will sacrifice the most? "Bosh, without question. He's so ready to become the team's second-leading scorer and he has earned the right to play a more pivotal role in their offense. Maybe Wade agrees to become a sixth man, which makes a lot of sense, but he still will end up with more of a scoring role than Bosh."
