Manny Pacquiao News Update: Roach Hints The 'Siberian Rocky' As Pacquiao's November Opponent Is Possible, Still Insists US Fight

After winning against Timothy Bradley (this time convincingly), Manny Pacquiao news update now covers his upcoming bout, which is already set in November.

However, as of this time, no specific fighter has been selected for the 35-year-old Pacquiao.

But that could change after Saturday night, as Russian Ruslan Provodnikov may just be the guy on the list of Pacquiao's team.

According to a recent report by LA Times, head trainer Freddie Roach said in an interview that while a fight with Provodnikov is not something he's interested in previously, the Russian's manager as well as Ruslan himself asked Roach about it.

"I still don't really have interest in that fight, but his manager came begging to me to make it happen, and I asked Ruslan, 'Do you really want to make that fight happen? You're going to lose me as a trainer, and have a slim chance of winning,'" Roach said.

Dubbed as the Siberian Rocky, Provodnikov is certainly a great brawler in the ring with his face-first style of boxing. He dominated Mike Alvarado in their bout a couple of years ago, and almost drew an upset from then undefeated Timothy Bradley.

Back in 2011, Provodnikov was one of Pacquiao's sparring partners, but that was before he was 'beaten' in a split decision by Bradley, and floored on the canvas several months later by archnemesis Juan Manuel Marquez.

Now that Provodnikov has already gained himself a significant following after his great performances in the previous years, it would seem that a match with Pacquiao is the perfect ingredient to further propel his career into stardom.

In another report, Roach does not want Pacquiao's next fight to be in Asia's gambling capital, Macao. The last time the Filipino southpaw fought in Macao, it only generated less than 500,000 pay-per-views, mainly due to the difficult schedules.

"They talk about fighting in China. If these big fights happen, they gotta move because (Juan Manuel) Marquez, Ruslan (Provodnikov), those are big fights in America, and on pay-per-view," the Hall of Fame trainer explained.
