2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions: Kyle Lowry To Miami Heat? Finals Loss Exposed Weakness At The 'One' Position! Raptors’ Skipper A Better Fit Than Melo?

The 2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions just welcomed their latest guest-the former defending champions Miami Heat!

After their shameful loss to the San Antonio Spurs, the Heat are taking a long, hard look at their roster. If the Big Three of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh all opt out, Miami is looking at almost $ 60 million in salary cap space. They have all the options to recreate their team but of course, the priority is to keep the Big Three intact.

There are talks that the Big Three are thinking about taking a bigger pay cut to add another key piece to their team. With their loss to the Spurs that seems more plausible now.

The rumor exploded that they would shoot for Carmelo Anthony who is probably opting out of his contract. That will not address their pressing needs at the center and point guard positions.

During the Spurs series, Tony Parker and Patty Mills totally destroyed the tandem of Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole. Even LeBron James could not account for the discrepancy. Aside from acquiring a rim protector, point guard is the position the Heat need to cover as it is now the most competitive.

If the Big Three want to add a fourth star, Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry could be a better goal. It's hard to expect Melo to walk away from a possible $ 22 million pay to take a possible $ 12-14 million (projected salary if Big Three take a cut-and all four of them sign identical contracts, according to ESPN).

But it's more than enough for Kyle Lowry. Could it happen? Hoops Rumors has explored the idea:

"Lowry would certainly be a surprise, since even though I've seen plenty of speculation linking him to the Heat, it doesn't appear as though there's any legitimate interest from either side."

Still, the prospect of playing for a possible champion would make Lowry think twice-it's also his chance of breaking into the spotlight. Lowry was this year's biggest All-Star snub-he was the East's best point guard but could not get the fans or coaches' vote.
