HTC One E8 Sells 50,000 Units In 15 Minutes, Features Plastic-Clad Body With Flagship Specs, Costs $449 In China

Announced back in March, the HTC flagship is undeniably the best HTC smartphone that has ever seen the light of day. But because it was a little too expensive for some, the manufacturer promptly unleashed the cheaper version - the HTC One E8.

While the HTC One M8 is a premium device that is covered by an aluminum casing, the One E8 packs a durable polycarbonate plastic instead. Aside from the casing, the One E8 also packs a 13-megapixel rear camera, as opposed to the Duo 4MP Ultrapixel cameras of the more expensive One M8.

In spite these changes, it looks like the smartphone will do just well in the Chinese market where it is currently available.

According to a report by GSM Arena, HTC has done it again this time selling 50,000 HTC One E8 units in just 15 minutes. We know it is difficult to believe it,

This is not Xiaomi which is also known to sell thousands of handsets in minutes. This is HTC - the struggling HTC.

So what seems to be the difference between the HTC One E8 and other handsets from HTC in the past? For consumers, it is all about getting the most of what they pay for.

The flagship HTC, the One M8 when compared to the E8 only has minor changes which were mentioned earlier. Still, the Taiwanese manufacturer has placed a very attractive price tag of only 2,799 Yuan or only $449. That is almost half the price of the One M8, as well as other flagships such as the Samsung Galaxy S5.

In case you need a refresher, the HTC One E8 packs the same 5-inch display as the One M8, with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 2GB of RAM, a quad-core CPU running at 2.2Ghz, a Snapdragon 801 chipset, and 16GB of built in memory. The device also runs Android 4.4 Kit Kat out of the box with Sense 6 so there are no problems there on the software side.

Let us just hope the device gets released internationally as well.
