Nexus 6 Release Date: No More LG-Made Nexus 6, Says Rumor

In case you are still waiting for the next Nexus device from LG, you better give up now - or so the rumor says.

According to a report by GSM Arena, a Dutsch publication has quoted an executive of of the Korean manufacturer stating that is it not LG which would be working on the Nexus 6 smartphone.

LG communications director Ken Hong, when asked about the Nexus 6, said that he doesn't know anything about the new Google smartphone yet.

If this is the case, then it could be that LG has not been tapped to work on the device with just several months away from a supposed unveiling.

Another speculation is that Hong was not included during the planning of the Nexus 6 by LG executives - but that is highly unlikely.

Previous reports claim that LG Electronics would be working with Google for the Android Silver lineup which would begin development by next year. If so, then LG may already have its hands full and so it would not be able to focus on the Nexus 6.

Meanwhile, earlier rumors (from May and June) claim that it is HTC who has been picked to work on the last member of the Nexus lineup. As the manufacturer of the first ever Nexus device, th Nexus One, HTC is the ideal candidate to complete the Nexus' legacy in the Android world.

If we were to believe further rumored specs about the Nexus 6, it is expected to sport a metal chassis for more durability and to provide the premium look it needs. Other alleged specs include a 5.5-inch display with QHD resolution which is slowly becoming a staple in the world of Android flagships, a quad-core CPU potentially with Snapdragon 805.

The device could also get a 16MP primary shooter, though it is scary to think that HTC would use its UltraPixel technology in developing the Nexus 6.
