At long last, the air date for the "Doctor Who" season 8 premiere has been unveiled!

On June 27, a new teaser trailer for "Doctor Who" season 8 showcased Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman as the Doctor and Clara. In addition, the teaser trailer also reveals that season 8 will premiere on August 23.

"The BBC has today confirmed the much-anticipated eighth series of the hit sci-fi drama Doctor Who will land on BBC One on Saturday 23 August, 2014," says the official press release.

"The feature-length premiere episode entitled 'Deep Breath' will see Peter Capaldi take on one of TV’s most iconic roles as the Twelfth Doctor, alongside Jenna Coleman as his companion Clara. An exclusive 15-second TV teaser showing a first-look glimpse of the new Doctor and Clara aired this evening on BBC One at 8:00pm confirming the date, and can be seen below."

The feature-length detail is making some "Doctor Who" fans anticipate an extended episode for the premiere, but only time will tell whether the air date schedule will allow for that.

"I'll be honest, that was the best 15 seconds of non-information and out-of-context sound bites I've seen in quite a while," commented LGwalchmai95 on Doctor Who TV.

"Capaldi was a really bold casting that could really go either way. But he is a well-established, class actor and I'm sure he'll do a grand job. Looking forward to seeing more Clara too, I love Jenna Coleman!"
