Elisabeth Hasselbeck Shocked Over News That Sherri Shepherd Is Leaving The View; Jenny McCarthy Walks With Shephard

Elisabeth Hasselbeck says she is shocked by news that Sherri Shepherd is leaving "The View," probably taking Jenny McCarthy with her. Hasselbeck left the morning show in 2013.

After seven years on "The View," Sherri Shepherd announced she is leaving and freshman co-host Jenny McCarthy said she's right behind her. The major shakeup comes just month after creator Barbara Walters announced her retirement.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck experienced how fast things move at The View, but says she was stunned by the news of Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy's departures on Thursday, June 26.

Speaking on her new gig, Fox & Friends, the former View co-host Hasselback admitted she didn't see it coming.

"I was shocked, in some ways. I'm sure. Even if you think that might happen one day, I'm sure it would come across to be a shock."

In a statement to the press. Shepherd said "It's been seven wonderful years on 'The View' and after careful consideration it is time for me to move on. I am extremely grateful to Barbara Walters and [executive producer] Bill Gedde for giving me the opportunity."

After just one year on the show, co-host Jenny McCarthy confirmed Thursday that she was also leaving "The View."

"If Sherri goes... I go too. #sisters," McCarthy. "My View will be chaining too. As will with many hard working folks. Thanks to everyone at the show for your dedication and an amazing year."

An insider told the press that Shepherd was negotiating a new contract but couldn't reach an agreement with ABC.

ABC issued a general statement saying "'The View' will be moving in an exciting new direction next year, and ABC has made decisions to evolve the show creatively."
