Queen And Adam Lambert Tour 2014: ‘American Idol’ Alum Not Freddie Mercury’s Replacement? Gig Gets Star-Studded Audience

Queen and Adam Lambert's tour 2014 continues to rock audiences although nobody really sees him as someone who can replace Freddie Mercury. The sold-out tour even drew celebrities and famous personalities.

According to Jim Harrington of Mercury News, the Queen and Adam Lambert tour 2014 exceeded expectations and it won't get any better for the band to get the "American Idol" alum as the frontman.

"Lambert's obviously no Mercury -- and he doesn't pretend to be -- but he's a lot closer to the mark than Paul Rodgers, the former Bad Company vocalist who worked with Queen from 2004 to 2009," he wrote.

He said that Adam Lambert shined through in the "operatic moments" particularly when tackling the high notes that Freddie Mercury so effortlessly hit.

"Yet, he wasn't able to go the other direction -- and get down and dirty -- nearly as convincingly," the reviewer noted, before quickly adding that the Queen and Adam Lambert tour 2014 "got more things right than wrong."

"He wisely opted not try to copy Mercury, but rather to put his own shiny pop brand on the lyrics. The result often sounded like we were listening to Muse, a group that has drawn Queen comparisons for much of its career," he said.

Meanwhile, the Queen and Adam Lambert tour 2014 drew famous personalities and celebrities like Muse's Dominic Howard,Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters, Tony Kanal and Adrian Young of No Doubt, actress Lisa Rinna, songwriter Bonnie Mckee and Allison Iraheta, who was Adam Lambert's fellow alum in "American Idol," said Yahoo Music.

"So far on this U.S. tour, it has helped Adam win over doubters that his Queen stint follows that of Paul Rodgers, who sang with Queen from 2005 to 2009 and definitely did not pull it off," Lyndsey Parker wrote for Yahoo.

"So yes, there will only ever be one Freddie Mercury. But that's OK. There's only one Adam Lambert, too. He's not Freddie , and he's not a 'replacement,'" she added.
