Nvidia Tegra K1 Release Date: ‘World’s Fastest Chipset’ For Mobile Challenges The Snapdragon 805; Will The ‘New Kid On The Block’ Beat ‘The Veteran Processor’?

Nvidia Tegra K1 release date: For the longest time, the Snapdragon 805 has ruled over the handheld industry as the leading processor. However, things are about to change as the Nvidia Tegra K1 premieres as the processor of the Xiaomi Mi Pad, the very first tablet from the company called the “Apple of China.”

With its upcoming launch in the second half of 2014, many critics are saying that the Nvidia Tegra K1 is the “world’s fastest chipset” for mobile devices. Now, the challenge is on: will the new processor beat the Snapdragon 805 in the mobile market?

In a blog post, Nvidia stated that “They (Xiaomi) sell phones fast. They develop blazing fast devices. Its Tegra 4-powered Mi3 was the world’s fastest phone at launch. They’re growing fast, too: Xiaomi is now one of the world’s largest smartphone vendors. And now, they’re the first to build a tablet with our out-of-this-world fast Tegra K1 mobile processor.”

Many heads turned during the Consumer Electronics Show 2014 in Las Vegas after the Nvidia Tegra K1 showcased its features during benchmark tests. The tests revealed that the “world’s fastest chipset” for mobile devices has surpassed some off the flagship chipsets of Qualcomm (Snapdragon 800), Apple (A7), and Intel (Haswell).

Moreover, benchmark tests done by blog Evolife also showed how the Nvidia Tegra K1 overpowered the Snapdragon, beating its performance by miles.

The Tegra K1 has already become a rising star as Nvidia’s flagship processor. Recently, WCCF reported that the 64-bit processor Nvidia Tegra K1 will be supporting DX12 API. WCCF, however, added that Nvidia’s decision is a critical step. It is also rumored that tablets, particularly under the Microsoft Surface line, will have the Nvidia Tegra K1 under the hood. However, nothing is still confirmed by the new processor.

Amidst the line-up of praises hailed at the Nvidia Tegra K1, the only surefire way to tell if the “world’s fastest chipset” for mobile devices can defeat the Snapdragon is through its upcoming performance under the hood of the Xiaomi MiPad.
