Amazon Fire Phone Bound To Fail For Steep Pricing? 'Cool' And 'Revolutionary' Features Not Enough?

Believe it or not, the Amazon Fire Phone is the first smartphone to be released by the retailer giant, which is ironic as it sells thousands of different smartphones from several OEMs only.

And maybe its experience in selling smartphones has enabled it to develop a unique device that will send all those tech geeks drooling and waiting for its official release date.

While the retailer giant initially had that impression before it announced the Amazon Fire Phone in June, the anticipation soon turned into 'whats' and 'whys' to why Amazon even thought it could compete in the Android market.

Considering how cheap and affordable Amazon's Kindle tablets are, a lot of people were not impressed with the Fire Phone's retail price - $650 off contract, or still a huge $199 on contract.

Compared with other smartphones in its category - higher midrange - the Amazon Fire Phone is not only expensive, but it is filled with gimmicky features too, as if it had tried to borrow a page from Samsung's book. These features are unique in the Fire Phone and could very well be major selling points of the device, but shelling out $650 for a phone that will help buy more products online - that may not seem to be a great idea.

While it hasn't been a month since the Fire Phone has been launched and available through Amazon's website, it is safe to say that while a lot of people were impressed with its features and updated specs, most of them would just say 'pass'.

Some of the Amazon Fire Phone's 'cool features' include the multi-sensors it has in front which allegedly detects how a person is looking at the phone's screen. There is also the Firefly feature that allows the device to recognize millions of products through the Fire Phone's camera lens.
