iPhone 6 Specs: New Apple Smartphone's Sapphire Display, Allegedly Put To The Knife And Keys Test?

For months we have read rumors that the new iPhone 6 specs would include a sapphire display instead of the traditional glass panels we have seen in previous generations of the device.

In a new report, it looks like those panels are now already being put to the test - even without the actual smartphone.

According to a report by GSM Arena, a YouTube user allegedly got a hold of an iPhone 6's sapphire display and put it to the test. Some of the materials he used include a knife and keys.

Apparently, the poster of the video was not satisfied and decided to bend the display, but no creaks were heard and no cracks were found. While this certainly does not say anything official, it looks like the sapphire display is a good choice for the iPhone 6s, especially with its bigger screen size.

Here's the clip for you to see it for yourself.

The upcoming iPhone 6 will reportedly the biggest smartphone to come out of the Cupertino manufacturer. To make things more interesting, Apple will not launch one, but two bigger phones. The first one, whose sapphire glass has been subject into a torture test, will pack 4.7 inches, while a bigger phablet iPhone would get a whopping 5.5-inch screen - in the same territory as the Galaxy Note lineup by Samsung and the G Pro family from LG.

Other rumored specs include an improved Touch ID for the phone's home button, iOS 8, and a powerful A8 chipset.

Based on previous reports, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 should be unveiled by the second week of September and should make its way to the majority of the world by November - just time for the holiday shopping season.

As for the bigger 5.5-inch model, no rumored date has surfaced just yet. But in the coming weeks, we'll surely get an update about it.
