Upcoming Xiaomi Phones 2014: Mi-3 Is Chinese Manufacturer's First Smartphone In India, Can 1-Year Old Specs Still Sell Big Time?

For the Indian market, the wait for upcoming Xiaomi phones in 2014 is finally over as the Chinese manufacturer launches its previous flagship, the Mi-3 for the Indian sub-continent.

While the smartphone has been released almost a year ago already, it is still one of the most popular Android phones in Asian, particularly in China where Xiaomi is based.

In recent reports, Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jun happily announced that its Xiaomi MI-3 has already surpassed 10 million units since it was released last year. As a way to celebrate, a golden version has been announced and should be available in China by now.

As for India, this is the first time they'll be getting a Xiaomi device, and the company is sure brave enough to take on the local brands such Micromax, Lava and Karbonn.

In case you missed the Xiaomi Mi-3 specs, the phone packs a solid list of specs which may seem outdated today, but still provides enough power to help most Android users get through the day.

The Android-powered device has a 5-inch IPS display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, quad-core CPU clocked at 2.3GHz, Adreno 330 for superior graphics performance, and 2GB of RAM.

The device also comes with a 16GB non-expandable storage, 13MP primary camera, a 2MP front cam for selfies and video calls, a huge 3050mAh battery, and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box, which will be updated to Kit Kat.

While the Xiaomi Mi-3 units in China did not have Google services nor Play Store, that will be one of the major differences in India as versions for the Indian market would get both features.

The Xiaomi Mi-3 is set to go on sale in India beginning on July 15, and is priced at ₹14,999 or $250.
