NBA Trades 2014: Cavs To Free $24M Of Cap Space In 3-Way Deal With Celtics, Nets, Is This Indication Of James' Interest In Heading Home?

In the latest NBA trades this 2014, it looks like the Cleveland Cavaliers are one step closer to signing back superstar LeBron James after four years of playing for the Heat.

In the report by Bleacher Report, the Cavs have been able to agree with a three-way deal with the Boston Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets that would free up the team's cap space by as much as $24 million.

Interestingly, the Cavaliers only need $20.4 million to sign James and become an instant title contender once more.

So how would this trade go?

In the report, the Nets would get Jarrett Jack and Sergey Karasev from Cleveland, while the Celtics should get Thornton and Tyler Zeller, as well as a first round draft pick.

According to the report, the Cavs get basically nothing from the trade if we're talking about players. However, they are able to free cap space in order to have the ability to sign James again for the season.

It has been a back and forth story as far as LeBron James' free agency story is concerned. A while back, we all thought the 4-time MVP is just reviewing his options as far as salary goes in Miami, and he would surely re-sign with them. James and his two co-stars, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade all opted out of their contracts just to persuade the Heat organization to get more role players and build up the team.

But after a week into free agency, it looks like the notion of James returning to South Beach is getting more and more blurry, especially with teams preparing their salaries to get the 29-year-old superstar.

One of those candidates is Cleveland, where James played for 7 years, before he moved to Miami to win his first two titles and make four consecutive Finals appearances.

The Cavs have changed a lot since then, acquiring three first overall draft picks, Andrew Wiggins as the added boost in Cleveland's offense. While the other first overall draft pick Anthony Bennet has been a flop so far, the team is currently Kyrie Irving's team.

But that will soon change if Lebron decides to return home as a multi-titled King.
