San Antonio Spurs News: Coach 'Pop' Re-Signs With Spurs On 'Multi-Year' Deal, Can Get NBA Title No.6 Next Year?

After coaching for the San Antonio Spurs for 17 years, Hall Of Fame coach Gregg Popovich decided that he isn't done with coaching.

According to a recent report, the 65-year-old coach has agreed to another contract with the Spurs, which means we should see coach Popovich to lead San Antonio to a few more years of success.

However, San Antonio is tight-lipped as far as how much Coach Pop would earn, and how long would the contract be.

But according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, sources tell him that Popovich would continue coaching for the next four or five years.

Since, Popovich took the helm for the Spurs, he immediately made an impact to the franchise. During his stint as the Spurs head coach, San Antonio has never missed the Playoffs, has won 11 Southwest Division titles, 6 Western Conference titles, and 5 NBA championships.

And that impact, which began 17 years ago this year, is still reverberating throughout the league - particularly during the NBA Finals.

Since the twin tower era composed of David Robinson and Tim Duncan, Popovich has slowly changed the way the Spurs play. From the post-heavy offense of the early 2000s, to the 3-point shooting squad he has today, Coach Pop proved that it does not take a lot of money to lure in players.

His current team is not composed of any stars at their prime years aside from the constantly improving Kawhi Leonard who won Finals MVP honors after scoring at least 20 points in the last three games of the series.

But instead of luring high-profile stars, coach Pop became focused in developing the Spurs' system of play, which makes the team one of the most effcient on floor in spite being the oldest team in the league.
