Dallas Mavericks News: Chandler Parsons Agrees To 3-Year $45M Offer

It looks like the latest Dallas Mavericks news point to the fact that Carmelo Anthony will not choose the team to be his next squad for next season.

And so, the Mavs get the best most feasible target in the free agency pool - forward Chandler Parsons.

Parsons has been phenomenal with Rockets during the past few seasons, averaging 16.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4 dimes, and more importantly an impressive 37 percent from deep.

During the regular season in January, Parsons made headlines as he made 10 3-point shots in just 14 attempts in the second half of their game with the Grizzlies.

In some reports, he is even compared to stretch forward Dirk Nowitzki in terms of his wingspan and the ability to shoot the three ball. In the Playoffs this season, Parsons averaged 19 points per game while making 44 percent of his three pointers.

Dallas belives that playing with Rick Carlisle's flow offense, Parsons would improve his game even further, especially that he plays with other veteran scorers in the league such as Monta Ellis and Nowitzki, and an elite defensive master in Tyson Chandler.

Dallas offered Parsons a three-year contract worth more than $45 million, which means the 25-year-old forward would earn $15 million a year. Given that pretty high offer by the Mavs, reports show that the Rockets may not be willing to match the deal.

In Houston's pursuit of either Carmelo Anthony or Chris Bosh, the team really needs to free more cap space, and letting Parsons go could only be the best option.

Apparently, it is already believed within some circles in the NBA that LeBron James would be returning home to Cleveland, Melo sticks with Knicks and Chris Bosh will want to get a maxium contract for himself as well, which makes Houston a great choice for the Texas native.
