Melissa Etheridge Marries Long-Time Partner 'Nurse Jackie' Creator Linda Wallem; Etheridge Will Headline Skyline Music Festival in August

Melissa Etheridge is married. The singer with a Bruce Springsteen affinity married her long-time partner Linda Wallem one day after the two of them celebrated their birthdays. Etheridge and Wallem were both born on May 29, 1961, making them 53.

Before Wallem and Etheridge began their relationship in 2010, they considered each other best friends for more than 10 years. Wallem served as the singer's "best man" at Etheridge's 2003 wedding to ex-wife Tammy Lynn Michaels. Melissa Etheridge and her partner Linda Wallem got married in an outdoor ceremony at the picturesque foot of the Santa Ynez Mountain range.

Etheridge and Wallem have been together for four years. A source told Us magazine that the pair said their vows in the lily garden under an arbor. The singer and TV producer were surrounded by red and purple flowers and celebrity friends like Rosie O'Donnell, Chelsea Handler, and Whitney Cummings.

Linda Wallem is one of the creators of the Showtime addiction series "Nurse Jackie," which stars Edie Falco, from "The Sopranos."  Wallem began her career in cabaret and made appearances on The Carol Burnett Show (1991), Sleepless in Seattle (1993) and Seinfeld (1994).

Before Wallem, Etheridge had a long-term partnership with Julie Cypher, who gave birth to two children, Bailey Jean, born February 10, 1997, and Beckett, born November 1998. The children were fathered by sperm donor David Crosby. Etheridge started dating actress Tammy Lynn Michaels in 2002. They had a commitment ceremony on September 20, 2003.

During the wedding Etheridge sang a new song written especially for Wallem that she never performed before.

Melissa got engaged to Linda in June 2013, shortly after the U.S. Supreme Court declared the Defense of Marriage Act "unconstitutional" back in June 2013.

In a June 26 phone interview with CNN's Ashleigh Banfield, Etheridge said "It is about family and I love my four kids. I called my now-fiancee. I'm looking forward to marrying my partner of three years. I'm going to get married in the state of California. I woke [the kids] up this morning telling them the Supreme Court ruling on DOMA. . .I love everybody out there. It's a great day."

After the Defense of Marriage Act and California's Proposition 8 were deemed unconstitutional Etheridge wrote on Twitter "I look forward to exercising my American civil liberties."

The "Come to My Window" singer revealed that she was engaged to the actress-producer just after the U.S. Supreme Court declared the Defense of Marriage Act "unconstitutional" back in June 2013.

All four of Etheridge's children took part in the wedding, Bailey Jean Cypher, 17; Beckett Cypher, 15; and twins Miller Steven Etheridge and Johnnie Rose Etheridge, 7.
