For starters, Rosé participated in an audition in Australia for YG Entertainment in 2012, when she was just 16 years old (international age). Her father, who noticed her love for music, encouraged her to audition for the South Korean label. And out of a total of 700 participants, Rosé ranked first.
And so within two months, she dropped out of school, moved to Seoul, and signed with YG as a trainee.
Rosé Reveals What Happened the First Time She Encountered Each BLACKPINK Member
During the interview with Rolling Stone, BLACKPINK Rosé described the first day she stepped into YG Entertainment. She detailed, "So I was the new one, I was like the newbie and I was like, hey I'm from Australia. I walked in, I had my parents behind me. They were there to drop me off because I wasn't an adult yet."

Rosé then revealed she was intimidated by the numerous female trainees she found when she walked into a room. And among those female trainees, of course, were Jennie, Jisoo, and Lisa.
First, Rosé recalled her first encounter with Jennie. Jennie started being a trainee under YG Entertainment in 2010 after she passed the audition that same year.
Since she was two years ahead of Rosé, Jennie had probably acquired lots of experience when it comes to dancing. And it seems like the latter was more than happy to help Rosé who was a new trainee.
The "On the Ground" singer shared to Rolling Stone that the "SOLO" singer helped her learn all the basics of the choreography.
Additionally, since Jennie was raised in New Zealand - where Rosé was born - she was fluent in English as well.

And besides teaching her the choreography, BLACKPINK Rosé shared that Jennie would also help her learn everything about Korean culture.
"She was like, 'You have to do this. You have to call people like this.' She was letting me know about all these cultures that I thought I knew about, but I obviously didn't know," she said.
Next, Rosé talked about the first time she met Lisa, who also signed a contract with YG Entertainment as a trainee in 2010 after being the only applicant who passed the audition.
Lisa began her formal training in 2011. Since both of them were away from home, Rosé revealed that she and Lisa got close for having that in common.

Lisa was actually the first BLACKPINK member she met, according to Rosé. She remembered coming across a girl who later turned out to be the Thai idol.
Lisa herself remembered Rosé and said that she was the "Australian girl with a guitar" and a tight bun.
Lastly, there was Jisoo who became a trainee under YG Entertainment just a year before Rosé. Her first impression of Jisoo was that of a "cool kid" because of her fashion - a snapback and black oversized t-shirt.
But now, she said that her fellow BLACKPINK member is "the goofiest person ever" yet Jisoo is still cool.
