SEOUL - IVE's Jang Wonyoung recently made a highly successful guest appearance on the popular YouTube series "PSICK SHOW," capturing worldwide attention and amassing over 5,000,000 views within a week.
Her chemistry with the hosts was praised, and the episode received extensive positive feedback.
However, a new controversy has emerged regarding the thumbnail for her episode.
An online community board highlighted the issue, noting that the show's title, "PSICK SHOW," was placed behind Wonyoung's head in the thumbnail, making the text appear as the word "F*CK" instead.
This placement contrasted sharply with other thumbnails in the series, where the text is usually positioned in front of the guest's photo, clearly displaying the show's name.
International fans and K-netizens alike have expressed their discomfort and disappointment over this choice of thumbnail.
Many believe it was done intentionally, sparking outrage and calls for the thumbnail to be changed.
HERE ARE SOME OF THE NETIZENS' REACTIONS:
"Wow, didn't even think about this. I thought they were showing off her face. These motherf*ckers."
"What's so hard about being cautious? The fact that they haven't taken down the video yet shows there's something there."
"There is something wrong if there are reactions to this overseas."
"What is the wassi thumbnail? In all the other fish show videos, the letters are all visible, but only Wonyoung intentionally hides some of the letters at the back???"
"I am someone who has always made a fuss about the shape of a finger, but I don't understand why that thumbnail is oversized and why I need to adjust my posture when I feel uncomfortable. Even foreigners react with disgust...? This is an issue that was raised first by foreign countries, and the clever way to make show look like she in the f word is a real ploy."
The online debate intensified as more people analyzed the thumbnail's placement.
Some netizens, with video editing experience, argued that such an oversight is unlikely to be accidental:
"If you've done video editing before, you would know this was 100% done with intent. Even if you were trying to put Wonyoung in the center, you could have moved it down a little bit to show the 'P.'" - Netizen
Despite the backlash, the video remains online with the controversial thumbnail. Critics argue that if the negative response continues to grow, the show's producers should address the issue promptly.
