Glee Star Cory Monteith To Portray Drug Addict In ‘McCanick’, ‘All The Wrong Reasons’ To Screen At Toronto Film Festival

The last two projects made by the late Cory Monteith will be screened at the Toronto International Film Festival this coming September, as reported by The Independent.

The late "Glee" Star had a tragic death after dying of alcohol and heroin overdose last July 13 at the age of 31. The events shocked the entire world including Cory's fans and the Glee Cast.

One of his last films, "McCanick", came close to real life as he portrayed an ex-convict named Simon Weeks who's struggling with drug addiction after being released from prison.

In the film [McCanick], people can see the transformation of a clean-cut Monteith to a long-haired and rugged drug addict.

Before his death, the late Glee Star Cory Monteith had an interview with the Parade Magazine [published June 2011] telling his real-life battles with alcohol and drugs at the age of 13.

"I had serious problems," the actor said. Cory added that he quit permanently at the age of 16 saying.

Cory has been very opened about his substance abuse problems.

Director of McCanick, Josh Waller, said to ET Canada "He had expressed that he was kind of going through a rought time, but that he was feeling better about it."

Waller added, "And then when I saw him at the screening, he wrote me a really sweet email."

"McCanick" premieres together with his other film, "All The Wrong Reasons." In this movie, the late actor plays the role of a department store managed, James AScher, who has having problems with his wife who's struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder.

In "All The Wrong Reasons", Monteith's image is transformed once again looking like a decent employee. This film also depicts some of the late actor's real-life experiences. E! Online reported that Monteith was actually a Walmart greeter before.
