Lady Gaga Twitter: Requests Fans To Report Hackers Of ‘Applause’ Song Leaks From ‘Artpop’ Album; ‘Monsters Spread The Word,’ She Tweets

Lady Gaga called on her fans, who she calls "Little Monsters," to help "Mother Monster" from evil hackers. Lady Gaga was forced to release the lead single from her upcoming album "Artpop," titled "Applause," a week early to preempt leaks of the song over the weekend.

"Due to hackers an abundance of low/high quality leaks... we issue this pop music emergency... Monsters spread the word," Lady Gaga tweeted.

"Artpop" wasn't officially scheduled to be released until August 19.

Forbes reports that Lady Gaga called on users to report breaches to the Universal Music piracy report site, and the Little Monsters fan website has done the same.

Over 2,500 followers retweeted the link, Forbes reports. As a result, many infringing copies of the song have already been taken down.

One fan claims to have reported more than 500 infringing sites to Universal, the website notes.

In an interview with Carson Daly on AMP Radio, Lady Gaga said that the person who originally leaked "Applause" had already been tracked down.

"We found the person who did it and they're probably going to go to jail. I hate that. I don't have any control over that," she said.

"I'm an artist from [Universal-owned] Interscope Records; what's lucrative for me privately is also lucrative for the company. If there's any more leaks, they go to jail, and it makes me so upset because they're just fans and they're excited to get any new music out," she said.

Cher was not so sympathetic.

A duet between Lady Gaga and Cher, called "The Greatest Thing," was also leaked over the weekend. Forbes reports that the single had been intended for Cher's next album.

"Just heard TGT ! F**k ! It's not even the right f**king version!!! Why do ppl think this kinda leaking s**t is ok ! I'm so fg dissapointed," Cher tweeted. "I've Sat on fking song 4 over a yr ) Now some a**hole leaks wrong version !"

Forbes notes that the duet wasn't scheduled for release because Gaga, who wrote the song, wasn't happy with the result.
