Game Of Thrones Star Emilia Clarke Talks Season 4 Filming, Daenerys, And Emmy Nom: Is 50 Shades Of Grey Too Risqué For Her?

As "Game of Thrones" continues filming season 4, Emilia Clarke took the time to talk with Deadline regarding Daenerys and her Emmy nomination.

"There's a couple reasons," says Emilia Clarke regarding the "Game of Thrones" success and her character's popularity. "George R.R. Martin has written a beautiful growth process of taking a young girl you feel like you want to protect, and then watching her protect herself and grow into her own and turn into a strong woman and leader."

"And also, the dragons, man! I think the reason she's such a popular character is the CGI dragons look pretty cool and the magic of them is definitely a quick way of making a character stand out."

As "Game of Thrones" starts filming for season 4, Emilia Clarke reveals in a recent interview she filming for her will begin in September.

"I'm getting to be a brunette until the beginning of September, and then I shall don the wig," says the 26-year-old to the New York Times.

For her portrayal of Daenerys, Clarke has received an Emmy nomination as Best Supporting Actress, in addition to 15 other nominations for "Game of Thrones."

And how does Emilia Clarke work with imaginary dragons on "Game of Thrones?"

"Whenever I'm separate from the dragons, they have life-scale models, which look brilliant and I get very attached to. But whenever I'm actually handling the dragons themselves, it's green tennis balls, which is challenging," admits Emilia Clarke.

"I find myself having the most ridiculous conversations with myself. 'What do dragon scales feel like? And how heavy is a dragon?'"

But what about her name's popularity when talking about "50 Shades of Grey" casting rumors?

Currently, the planned film adaptation of the popular novel is receiving backlash for reportedly portraying an abusive relationship towards women, according to NBC.

As such, it might be prudent for Emilia Clarke to just focus on "Game of Thrones," especially since filming is about to begin.
