‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 5 Spoilers: Elena And Damon Kiss, Human Katherine Looks ‘Tragic’ In New Behind-The-Scenes Photos, Features Nina Dobrev And Ian Somerhalder

"The Vampire Diaries" director Joshua Butler released sneak peek photos of season 5 on his Twitter account Friday, including a steamy kiss between Elena and Damon, and a blurry picture of human Katherine.

The behind-the-scenes photos of "Vampire Diaries" tease fans of what to expect come October 3rd, when season 5 premieres on the CW, IB Times reports. The photos come from the set of episode 2 of season 5.

The picture of Katherine features a close-up of actress Nina Dobrev, looking anything but happy to be human.

"Katherine Pierce, brought to life by @NinaDobrev, in all her tragic #beauty. #DirectorPride #TVD 5x02," Butler tweeted.

Executive producer Julie Plec revealed to TV Guide that Katherine will be "in need of protection much like the first Elena we met four years ago," IB Times reports, following her new status as a human when Elena forced Katherine to take the cure to vampirism.

"She's definitely going to find herself on the wrong end of a lot of vendettas," Plec added to TVLine in May.

On August 19, Butler also tweeted a picture of Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder as Elena and Damon, sharing an intimate embrace.

Elena looks completely different from Katherine, wearing a huge grin as she leans in for a kiss from Damon.

Judging by Butler's tweet, it sounds like he is a big fan of Delena. Maybe this means we'll see their relationship blossom under his direction.
