‘How I Met Your Mother’ Season 9 Spoilers: Robin’s Mother And Stepmother To Show Up At Wedding During Episode 9? Why Hasn’t Robin Talked To Her Mom?

"How I Met Your Mother" season 9 will feature Robin and Barney's wedding, and now the series co-creator reveals viewers will meet Robin's stepmother and possibly her mother at the wedding. Why hasn't Robin talked to her mother?

Co-creator Carter Bays dished to TVGuide.com that viewers will be not only meeting Robin's stepmom, but possibly her real mom as well, IB Times reports.

"We'll meet Robin's new stepmom, who wants to sing at her wedding," Bays explained. "And Robin's mom, whom we've said almost nothing about, will also be a factor, whether we meet her or not. We'll be exploring why Robin hasn't talked to her. Her personality will help explain Robin in the same way her dad's did."

As fans of the series know, Robin's father is an intense character that frequently forgets his daughter's birthday and while growing up, referred to Robin as a boy, as he wished for a son. Perhaps Robin's mother had similar expectations that were difficult for Robin to meet.

According to Spoiler TV, episode nine is called "Mom and Dad," which could be the episode in which viewers meet Robin's mothers. However, IB Times reports they may also make their appearances during episode 11, called "Rehearsal Dinner," in which Bays hinted Robin will have her hands full. This may be due to family drama.
