Zayn Malik Almost Kicked Out Of One Direction For Oversleeping, Not Showing Up To Rehearsal, Revealed In ‘This Is Us’ Press Conference; Now One Of Most Googled Teens

Zayn Malik was almost kicked out of One Direction in their early "The X-Factor UK" days in 2010, for oversleeping and not showing up to rehearsals, the One Direction boys revealed during a press conference for their new documentary, "This Is Us."

"The first week we got together it was all a bit strange trying to get people together for rehearsals. Still to this day it's a struggle to get Zayn out of bed," Liam Payne said.

"Remember he didn't show up and you were going to fire him?" director Morgan Spurlock noted.

According to HNGN, Malik was almost kicked off "The X-Factor" by Simon Cowell when he stormed off after refusing to dance on stage.

Luckily for Malik, he got his act together and is now one of the most Googled teen stars in the world, HNGN reports. The band's net worth is an estimated $30-40 so far, according to Starcasm, which is a figure that does not include their next album and new movie, HNGN notes.

Zayn has also come a long way since those "X-Factor days."

The 20-year-old singer was recently able to buy his mother, Tricia Brannan, a home in Brad, West Yorkshire, England. Zayn admits that he's very proud of being able to help her with his One Direction earnings, Xpose Entertainment reports.

"It was quite strange filming because it was the first time I'd actually spoken to my mom about it and she'd gone round the house," Zayn explained.

"It was quite strange but it was good and it's amazing thing to do. I can look back on that in a few years' time and I've got amazing footage of my mom seeing the house for the first time," he said.

"This Is Us" hits theaters August 29.
