Leif Garrett Tells Justin Bieber to Get Over Himself, Everyone Else Will Soon Enough

Leif Garrett gave Justin Bieber some advice in an interview with Fox 411 on Monday. You remember Leif Garrett, don’t you? Well, neither did I, thank you Wikipedia. Leif Garrett was a bubblegum popstar for about eighteen minutes in the late 70s. Kind of a cut rate David Cassidy or Donny Osmond, but better known for his scandals than his music or acting. Justin Bieber is better known for dating Selena Gomez.

Leif Garrett told Justin Bieber, via Fox 411, "Do not believe your own publicity. Sussing out who your real friends are is full-time work. Every scum bag, every drug dealer, every chicken hawk wants a piece of you."

Leif Garrett explained how he was different from Justin Bieber, although he didn’t get into the fact that he had on hit single, “I Was Made for Dancin’” while Justin Bieber has already had quite a few, as well as a video that’s gotten 900 million YouTube views and some Grammy noms.

Leif Garrett said, "[O]ur circumstances are quite different. This is something he really wanted to do and he achieved it. I was in acting,” Garrett reminded readers. Yes, Leif Garrett was on season 4 of "Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew."

Justin Bieber might do well to heed the sage advice of the aging used-to-almost-was popstar Leif Garrett. Garrett said, “When you’ve got that sort of power at that young age. And everything at your doorstep, you put out that bad boy image. At that age, testosterone, hormones, all of the money, you see what else you can get away with."

Oh and don’t videotape yourself peeing in mop buckets. That doesn’t sell records.
