Orange Is The New Black Laura Prepon's Lesbian Character Axed? Season 2 Filming WIthout The 'That 70's Show' Actress

Laura Prepon, who plays lesbian villian Alex on Orange is The New Black, is rumored to be leaving the show in its second season, but the news has not been fully confirmed.

An insider told TVGuide.com that the actress has not been on set since filming began weeks ago and that the season 2 premiere will be filmed later this year, where they will "[wrap] up Laura's stuff and [resolve] the cliff-hanger."

Laura Prepon will return for a handful of episodes in the Netflix series' second season, but she won't be a series regular after opting not to sign a contract for the full season, BuzzFeed reports.Her character, Alex, will stick around long enough to wrap up her story.

The Netflix original series was picked up for a second season before the first one debuted in July.

The first season proved to be a big hit on Netflix with thought provoking storylines and amazing character development.

Orange Is the New Black debuted with far less advance hype than its fellow Netflix originals"House of Cards" and "Arrested Development," but reviews and word of mouth on the show have been stellar.

Season 2 will air in 2014.
