'New Girl' Season 3 Spoilers: Schmidt Will Choose Cece Or Elizabeth By Episode 3, But His Decision Will Come With ‘Serious Guilt;’ Who Will He Pick?

"New Girl" season 3 will feature Schmidt having to make an important decision: will he choose Cece or Elizabeth to be his new girlfriend?

E! News reports that it was revealed in a Spoiler Chat that Schmidt (Max Greenfield) will be called "boyfriend" by Elizabeth (Merritt Wever) or Cece (Hannah Simone) within the first three episodes of season 3. The website reports that though he will make the decision, it will be a choice made with "some serious guilt."

This could go either way. Cece was always the apple of Schmidt's eye, and she called off her marriage because she still had feelings for him. However, Elizabeth is Schmidt's college sweetheart, and she is portrayed as the woman who knows the real Schmidt.

Executive producer Liz Meriwether talks about about Schmidt and how he's dealing with trying to make a choice, Unreality TV reports.

"It's a choice that he's still struggling with in the premiere. He genuinely cares about both women and he's just so confused about what to do. He's forced to take desperate measures to figure it out. He potentially does some things that are not good," Meriwether said.

The website reports that the third season premiere will pick up moments after Schmidt walks out on Cece and Elizabeth, but won't necessarily resolve the issue right then.

Meriwether also hints that his boss, Beth (Eva Amurri), won't make his decision any easier, Enstarz reports.
