Samsung Smartwatch Release Date: Taking A Closer Look Inside Samsung's Galaxy Gear Smartwatch

With just over a week before Samsung's Unpacked 2013 event in Berlin and New York on September 4, details and specifications of the Korean company's smartwatch have already leaked through the Web.

Dubbed as the Samsung Galaxy Gear, the wrist watch will enable users to get a 'wearable computer' according to ZDNet, and will be launched ahead of Apple's rumored counterpart. In fact, Samsung might even set up a pop-up store in Times Square to sell their products right away.

According to rumors, the Galaxy Gear will have a square screen that measures 2.5 inches, or 3 inches including the case. Its display screen may have a 320 x 320 resolution and would enable touch and swipe gestures. In addition, the gadget will also feature Samsung's Exynos 4212 dual core 1.5GHz with Mali-400 MP4 GPU for faster response and quicker processing of data.

IB Times also said Samsung's most anticipated smartwatch is rumored to come with a camera built directly on its strap, and two speakers attached on the clasp. While we cannot imagine how the company can come up with such innovations, it will certainly be one thing we would like to see for ourselves.

Developers also revealed that the smartwatch may come with either the Android 4.1 or 4.2 version of Google's most popular OS. This will support connections and transfers from other Samsung products.

However, IB Times said there are reports stating that the Samsung Galaxy Gear will not be available at the Play Store, but only on the Samsung App Store. It will only work with Samsung tablets and phones powered by Android OS.
