Dollywood Expanding: Dolly Parton's Theme Park To Get Major $300 Million Upgrade, Adding Thousands Of Jobs

Dollywood is expanding, um, a lot.

Dolly Parton is a country superstar in her own right, but her theme park will get a major new upgrade.

Dolly Parton, the actress and country singer-songwriter, said that she is planning a major expansion of her Pigeon Forge, Tenn. theme park.

The Dollywod expansion will cost over $300 million and will add thousands of jobs.

"I feel like I'm just startin'," Dolly said-despite the fac that she's 67.

"It's gonna be a big deal," Parton said "And I'm so excited...this has been a dream from the very beginning. It's got a Southern flair, but it's done very classy."

The Dollywood project is expected to include a new "family" roller coaster in 2014, and a resort hotel in 2015.

Dollywood was first opened in 1986, despite Dolly's lawyers and accountant voting against the project.

"I said, 'well, I'm gonna do it anyway, because I know that it's the right thing to do in my gut,'" said Parton.

And since then, the park has expanded-and will do so more.

Despite being raised in a cabin with a dozen siblings, Dolly has now sold more than 100 million records worldwide.

"I feel like I'm just startin'," Dolly said.

"I'm still trying to grow and come up with new dreams every day and make 'em come true," said Parton.
