Elizabeth Olsen Rumored to play Scarlet Witch in the 'Avengers' sequel; Will Also Appear in Spike Lee's Remake of `Oldboy'

Elizabeth Olson, the young indie actress with two very famous sisters, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, is rumored to be in the running for Joss Whedon's sequel to “The Avengers,” the assured blockbuster, "Avengers 2: Age of Ultron.”

Critics loved Elizabeth Olsen for her role in "Martha Marcy May Marlene" from 2011. Elizabeth Olsen will next appear in Spike Lee's remake of the Japanese horror film "Oldboy." Elizabeth Olsen will also play in Gareth Edwards’ reboot of Godzilla. According to published reports, Elizabeth Olsen is going to have to use a “European” accent for the role.

Sources told Bleeding Cool's Brendon Connelly that Marvel comics and director Joss Whedon are seriously looking at Elizabeth Olsen for the role of the Scarlet Witch, also known as Wanda Maximof. The part was originally set to be played by Saoirse Ronan, who was Joss Whedon’s first choic, but she bowed out.

Wanda Maximof’s brother, Quicksilver, will be played by Aaron Tyler-Johnson, who did the "Kick-Ass" movies. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the Kick-Ass star, played in “Nowhere Boy” and “Savages” by Oliver Stone. Elizabeth Olsen will also play along with Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Samuel L Jackson, and Scarlett Johannson.

The president of production at Marvel, Kevin Feige, recently said “I could arguably say what we’re planning for the year 2021. Will that happen? I don’t know. But what we planned for 2015 in 2006 is happening.”

"Age of Ultron" is set to hit theaters in May 2015.
