Kelly Clarkson, Fiance Cancel Wedding, Will Elope; Sent Engagement Photo To Guests, Saying ‘Thank You So Much For Understanding’

Kelly Clarkson and her fiance Brandon Blackstock announced that they will no longer have an elaborate wedding, but instead will elope. They apologized to their guests, and sent out engagement photos.

When the musical couple made their decision to elope, they "sent out an engagement photo to everyone and said, 'Thank you so much for understanding, but it's just going to be me and Brandon and his two kids and the minister,' " Kelly Clarkson, 31, told People magazine.

We assume the engagement photo she sent to potential guests was one of the ones she has been posting on her Twitter.

She posted one on Tuesday, with the caption: "Okay... One more from our engagement shoot ha! #TieItUp :)"

Kelly and her fiance Brandon stand by a brownstone entryway to what looks like a garden in the photo, ABC News reports. Kelly's wearing a beautiful white dress, and Brandon is holding her in an embrace from behind.

Kelly explained to People magazine why she and Brandon decided to cancel their elaborate October wedding in Nashville.

"We are so busy that we finally just came to terms the other night and were like, 'So, we change our minds and we want to elope.' We just got so overwhelmed by it - all the decisions," she said.

"We sent out a save-the-date to everyone and then it got crazy and all the details were leaking."

Clarkson added that she and her fiance were just too busy to take on the challenge of planning a big wedding.

"Then honestly the planning - I have a Christmas record coming out...We have two kids who just started school. We're going to all these football games and soccer games and volleyball games a [Brandon]'s got one of the biggest artists [Blake Shelton] in country music. He's flying everywhere," she explained.

But just because they're not having a big ceremony, this doesn't mean Kelly and Brandon won't have a party.

"We're going to do that anyway," she said. "Our friend is throwing us [a party] because we're about to wrap up construction at our house. He's throwing us a huge stock the bar party, so all of the people who were going to be at our wedding will be there."
