Drake New Album 2013 Cover Artist Kadir Nelson Transforms ‘Nothing Was The Same’ Rapper

Despite a slight setback on Drake's new album release, the rapper made it a point to compensate by revealing his album cover art, and the brilliant artist behind it.

The 'Started From the Bottom' rapper acknowledged his cover artist yesterday by tweeting just four simple words:

Kadir Nelson, an award-winning American artist, is famous for working with the likes of Sports Illustrated, The Coca-Cola Company, The United States Postal Service, Major League Baseball, and yes, even Dreamworks, where he worked on the feature films, "Amistad" and "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron." He was also the artist who painted the cover for Michael Jackson's posthumous album: Michael.

On the album cover art, Nelson painted Drake's evolution from boy to man. On the first cover, the award-winning artist depicted the rapper in his youth: a wide-eyed, cherubic child with a comb stuck in his afro. On the second cover, he painted the transformation of Drizzy's youth that we are all familiar with: a more angular and mature man donning a golden chain and around his neck.

Perhaps the 'All Me' rapper is trying to give us a hint on what his material is about in his new album?

His new album is set for release on September 24, as he tweeted yesterday, which is a week later than the official announced release on his website (they have since updated the site with the covers of the album - see here).

Right after the release of 'Nothing Was The Same,' Drizzy is set to kick off his 41-city North American tour with artists Miguel and Future on September 25 in Oregon.

Drake is expected to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, August 25 - premiering at 9 P.M. on MTV.
